It's a somewhat short "Best of
" list this time, based more on the fact that I'm strapped for time than the quality of music I posted this month. The recurring theme in this month's list is "Bands I'd never heard of before this month". Enjoy:
Another Eccentric Soul
release, another amazing album. This time Numero Group
compiled tracks from Detroit's Big Mack Label
to explore the "oil stained underside of the Motor City Sound". That "Sugar" Jones track is unbelievably hot.
This French band sort of came out of nowhere (for me at least), but I'm really enjoying their brand of "shit-kicking electropunk". Especially this song.
Utterly hypnotic. Generally not a fan of music that makes me sleepy, but that voice and the fact that I don't understand a word she's saying induces daydreams everytime.
Martin Crane (of Austin band Ink
) is going to be releasing some solo stuff in the near future. Do yourself a favor and remember the name, because it's going to be great.
Dude she's 4 years old.
A commenter the other day said if I rolled up next to her playing this song in my car, she'd think I was gay.
Minneapolis is blowing up lately. These guys have been compared to Malkmus and Thin Lizzy, and this track just oozes "summertime".

Every single track on this amazing comp is worthy of being on my Best of May list. Buy it here
