Inaugural Post-Blog Rock Super Bowl
Much has been made about the backlash in the mainstream media regarding blogger favorites Tapes 'n Tapes and Cold War Kids. Well, these bands are blogger favorites for a reason, and if anything, the backlash illustrates just how out of touch mainstream media is with what people want. Any question about these bands being "overhyped" was laid to rest for good in the Inaugural Post-Blog Rock Super Bowl in Fairview, Texas. I think the photos pretty much speak for themselves, my friends. I can assure you, it was a heated battle that ended in a triple-overtime tie.
Tapes 'n Tapes and Cold War Kids play tonight at the Gypsy Tearoom, along with Denmark's Figurines.

although i am getting midlake, sound team, and cold war kids at mercury in july so i am not that sad.

You are, and always will be, an enormous douche bag. Tapes n Tapes are the best band on that bill, hands down. Cold War Kids sound like Maroon 5 and Alan Thicke's son doing a bad imitation of the Walkmen's guitar tones.

still thought figurines put on the best performance. thought the tapes 'n tapes just cemented my fears that some of the appeal of the loon might be rooted in the production (or lack of).
