ACL 2006: Cat Power

I'll have a full ACL: Day One photo recap later today, but I had to give Chan her own post. She was in rare form today, and was by far the most entertaining performer of the day. I think the photos speak for themselves (as always, click photo for larger image):

I refer you to my comment on the "Sufjan Stevens: Live in Dallas" post; like our feathery friend, this young woman's light is really quite dim. Her physical attractiveness will not carry the mediocrity of her work for much longer, and to those of us who find her rather lame-looking (squawking around stage faking a genuine gift,) it never did.
so sexxxyyyyyyyyyy...lub it!
Cicero,
With all due respect, I am not sure you would recognize a quality artist/performer even if they were to crawl up and bite you squarely in the ass.
Cat Power's music is great because many of her songs ooze the inner workings of her soul. She gives everything to her music, even if some of the songs are simple, three-chord guitar pieces. For many of her more recent live performances, she has left everything on the stage: her heart, her soul and her obvious joy for what she is creating and doing.
what a wierd post... i remember seeing chan for the first time (way after i had extensively listened to her work) and being surprised at the "completeness" of the "package", so to speak.
soooooo cute
shes butt worthy
I appreciate your due respect, Manager, but am inclined to think that many of the cattle willing to take part in observing the demi-god spectacles which occur in huge arenas and festivals are more like the other commentators (above,) clearly motivated by lust and the herd mentality that says we must go where the crowd is gathering. I actually have it in writing from God who knows all that if Chan was plain and overweight she would have no music career. Yes, God emails me. She's not to blame for her looks, of course, but the cattle are to blame for her career.
chan marshall is far beyond debatable hotness. she'll probably be the gaps new spokeswoman by spring.
I enjoyed Cat Power's voice and writing long before I had seen her beautiful face. "The Greatest" is one of the best songs recently written, the orchestration is excellent, her voice is stellar, the lyrics are meaningful. I know that probably won't make any difference to you, because you seem to get off on feeling like the only one who isn't part of "the herd". That's too bad.

Lighten up Cicero. I liked Cat Power prior to knowing she was pretty and prior to any festivals, herds of cattle, or otherwise. If you do not like her music, good for you. I do not like meatloaf, but I do not visit meatloaf blogs to proclaim it. Think postive, my friend.
MOKB exclusive track : Chan on AOL
Great pics Chris!
I don't get all this arguing over something subjective.
Oh wait, it's the internet.
Now I get it.
she is so f-ing pretty.
An ass shot of Chan? :)
I swear she wore the same outfit at Stubbs the next day...
Sissy-ro,
I wish me and your ma had never mated, or at least I wish we'd never learned you to read and write. You've gone and brought shame onto us all. If'n you can't hear the sublime brilliance of 'You Are Free', then well, to quote Bill Burroughs, "I trust you little in the commerce of the soul." -Dad
PS I'm thinking you'd better check that email address. Those transmissions may be originating from somewhere far south of heaven. ^-^
Holo cicero,
I respect everyone's opinion... including yours-- although I completely disagree with it. Chan is an amazing artist in all facets... music, lyrics and voice. She used to be an eratic performer when she was drinking heavily, but since she has changed her lifestyle her live performances have improved dramatically. she is phenomenalto say the least. O'B
She has no ass.
