Ratatat: Live in Dallas

Ratatat DJ Afterparty @ The Cavern

I'm a little worn out from the party last night, so here are a bunch of photos from RATATAT's sold out show at Gypsy, and of the afterparty at The Cavern. Thanks to The Black, Sober, $elect, and of course, Ratatat. The Black played a great (albeit too short) opening set, $elect and Sober proved why The Party is the best thing in North Texas, and Ratatat killed both their live set and their DJ set. Couldn't have been any better. And to everyone who showed up, I love you. (edit: read a great review of the show over at We Shot J.R.)

ps. Ratatat, sorry Dallas closes at 2 AM. We're lame, we know.

Those Ratatat dudes were hella faded when they rolled into the cut, the keyboardist particularly. Every last word that burped out of his mouth was unintelligble. It was the bloke's permeating unwashed odor cloud that exacerbated his clever intoxicity.

Very good dude, though.

This one kid who freelances for Pitchfork stuttered his way through a conversation about the Middle Eastern themes on "Classics.

Because the reporter's stutter was so unrelenting -- his questions too rehearsed and pedantic...awash with pretense -- the rather polite keyboardist was discerning enough to dismiss his bloated impromptu interview, despite being all hella fay-dog.

Pretty funny shit.

Great show altogether -- one of the best to roll through town all year -- and a fantastic afer party ta barbaloot fruit! Place was mothafuckin' bumpin.

Hell, even Willie, of all people, busted in on the scene.

Thanks for linking Chris. It was a great show and a bad ass after party. Congrats on putting the cavern thing together.

And you're right, that was the most fun I've EVER had at the Cavern on a Wednesday night.

but man was ratatat's light and smoke show amazing. and i liked how the strobes were hooked up to those pedals, so they were always in sync with the music. tre cool.

nik: you're jokin' about that envelopes comment, right? i was not feeling their set at all. and i usually like bands from Sweden. that Panther dude was great though. he really should have performed right before ratatat.

middle eastern themes on "Classics"? did i miss something or is that kid on crack? lol.

These guys put on an excellent show at Emo's in Austin on Thursday. Made me wish I had caught them on tour long before now...
