good records and gorilla vs. bear present: Beach House
flier by Garrison Reid
Since we first posted about our love for Beach House's self-titled full-length back in August, the band has been getting love from quite a few of our favorite bloggers. Muzzle of Bees called it "a perfect winter record," and we couldn't agree more. Matthew Fluxblog says "every song...feels like an aching void that is made more painful by lingering memories of better days." And Stereogum said the band's CMJ show turned them "into silly, gooey puddles of appreciation." Pitchfork loves them too, and gave the LP an 8.1 while proclaiming Apple Orchard "so good it's scary," adding that the song "already feels like a classic." Whew.
So it seems that now would be the perfect time to announce that we, along with our friends at Good Records, are extremely excited to be presenting Beach House's first Dallas show on November 18 at the Amsterdam Bar, with Carpark labelmates Over The Atlantic. Hope to see you there.

Pink Nasty has just announced a last-minute official CMJ show, tonight at the upstairs lounge of The Living Room at 7:30. If you can make it out, tell Ms. Nasty we said hi.
Ms. Annie Clark on piano, live in Dublin. Looks like Sufjan is giving the audience the bird, which would make sense given the theme of this tour. More photos of winged Sufjan and Annie here:
