One of our biggest scores at SXSW was copping A-Trak's first "real" mixtape, Dirty South Dance, a collection of "18 tracks and 50+ minutes of Southern rap laid carefully over electro and dance joints," released on Fool's Gold Records (founded by Nick Catchdubs and A-Trak). Our friend the Analog Giant called it "a damn classic," and the more we listen, we tend to agree.
Featuring remixes of tracks from the Clipse, M.I.A., Timberlake, Rick Ross (including an incredible blend of "Hustlin'" and Simian Mobile Disco's "Hustler"), and more, Dirty South Dance is definitely the party record of the year thus far. Here's a snippet from one of our favorite parts of the mix:
