Our friend Marathon Packs posted a little "Midterm Mix" of some of his favorite things from 2007 so far, and there's some good stuff scattered in there, including Bonde Do Role, Panda Bear, Deerhunter, and more. He also mentions Melbourne's the Crayon Fields, and coincidentally, we've been digging their Animal Bells record quite a bit lately. Here's the album opener, on which the band is very plainly trying to sound like Odessy & Oracle-era Zombies, and they do a pretty convincing job of it. So yeah, it might be borderline plagiarism, but if you're going to rip something off, you could do a lot worse than one of the best albums ever.
