dan deacon: live in dallas
Dan Deacon plays at the Cavern tonight, and while I'm not the biggest fan in the world of his Spiderman of the Rings LP, the guy is pretty damn awesome, and I have to admit I'm extremely psyched about this show. The prospect of seeing him go off in a tiny space like the Cavern makes this one of the more intriguing shows to hit Dallas so far this year. The fact that Videohippos and Mom are opening doesn't hurt, either.

This is the worst thing I've ever seen. I don't care how indie this guy is, at what point do we just call something shitty "shitty" ?. Come on...
like i said i'm not a huge fan of his record, but "how indie" the guy is has nothing to do with anything. from everything i've seen/heard, his live shows look unbelievably fun.
also if you aren't at least mildly amused by that video, watch it again.

There's a great interview w/Dan on We Shot JR today that sheds some light on the guy and his training and methods - and because of that, I'm pretty sure he's not "retarded". Musically, he's very educated and knows what he's doing. It just may not be your thing (or mine).
