This kid is alleging that Win Butler (aka "Mr. Saturday Night"(?) of the Arcade Fire) stole his basketball. In response, someone who claims to be Will Butler of the Arcade Fire started this blog. Will has taken a few low blows at the anonymous accuser, alleging that he was drunk on whisky, and also that he "has a tattoo of Puff the Magic Dragon on his penis." To quote Will's response, "Win Butler didn't steal your fucking ball." Please, stop the madness. Help this kid find his basketball.

The drama here is even stupider than most of the content in reality TV. I hope that this is all a hoax, for all of our sakes.
Win regaled all and sundry of this sordid tale from the stage of The Greek Theatre in Berkeley on Saturday night, a show which I attended.
Needless to say, the story differs quite a bit from Chris H.'s retelling but in Win's words "If we can't stop the war, at least let's boycott Berkeley Athletic facilities" :-)

The powers that be need to chime in if this is going to be put to rest. There is a stolen basketball in our midst, one that needs to find its rightful home.
I'm sure that chris guy was being a douche about it all and the arcade fire guys did put it somewhere in the gym to mess with him. Reading between the lines it seems that Win had simply entered a few minutes earlier than his friends and went to a court to reserve it. Upon waiting there for a few minutes to get ready to come out and join him on the court mr. chris came over and demanded that he give up his court at that point since it appeared Win was by himself. I'm sure Win explained his friends were going to be out in a few minutes. Also, the story kind of falls apart when he goes to ask the lady what happened to his ball and she responds, "the arcade fire guy took your ball"... I'd give an estimate that if you polled several thousand fitness center front door ladies about their indie music knowledge, the majority would not only have no idea who the arcade fire was, much less could ever identify any one of the members.

For what it's worth, I was mainly referencing "Will's" idiotic response, which manages to be even more childish than your appeal to make a stolen basketball into high-crime.
Have I had anyone steal my basketball from me? As a matter of fact, yes. I can also say I've had a slingshot and skateboard stolen from me as well. Did it suck, yes. Have I had far worse things happen to me and people I cared for? Yes. Is this the sort of thing you can, in good health, just laugh off? Yes, especially if you've managed to live a bubble-boy like-enough existence to have your world shattered a ball being stolen from you by an asshole.
Bottom-line, if a ball was stolen, the shame is on whomever stole it, and someone has the opportunity to be the bigger man without playing a pity-whore.
Win stole this cat's basketball.

This is one of the funniest, most absurd things I've read all year (all blogs involved). I don't honestly care who stole what, but it's good entertainment.
yes yes, Win Butler told the Berkeley June 2 show how he wanted to play basketball but couldn't, because the other players wouldn't let him use the court and Win didn't want to play with them. so they started yelling at each other, backup was called, and Win was escorted out of the gym. and like previously stated, Win encourages us all to protest Berkeley athletic facilities. He then proceeded to break into a wonderful rendition of "intervention".

nice. buying an album based on this rumor alone. Some poor kid wasting all his time to post about something he does not know for a fact happened, someday he will grow up and just get on with it.
