not a number
Chris is off at pFork this weekend so I'm here to drop some sleepy instrumental laptop jamz on your asses. That being said, I promise to not use the "z" again, if you listen to this track.
Nearly a month ago, I was listening to Undomondo's incredible electro-world-awesomeness podcast, and early into the show I heard this track: a blend of percussive tools bouncing from speaker to speaker acting as an aural game of Pong. The track, "Not A Number," is the opening cut of Apparat's 2007 release Walls. The German electronica artist has created a beautiful collage of layered beats and strings. Also, incorporating what sounds like marimbas, Apparat (Sascha Ring) has developed a precise, yet totally enjoyable stereo exploration that amazingly doesn't make you feel like you're listening to a Bose speaker demo.

Quick pFork Report
Chris won't be back 'til tomorrow, but he reports that the highlight of Saturday was during Girl Talk's set, when Girl Talk AKA Greg Gillis was joined on-stage by Grizzly Bear for a live mash up of "Knife" and a Wu-Tang track. Beach House's Victoria and Deerhunter's Bradford also crashed the stage. And, oh yeah, the Clipse set was awesome, mixing Hell Hath No Fury, Lord Willin' and both volumes of the We Got It For Cheap mixtapes.
