As a huge fan of Cass McCombs' underrated 2005 release PREfection, I'm pretty psyched to premiere this song from his upcoming Domino release Dropping the Writ, due out October 9th. After spinning "That's That" on repeat for the better part of the last 4 hours, I can assure you that, like most of McCombs' best material, this jam is the definition of a grower. Highly recommended:

yes! Cass is great. not sure that PREfection was exactly "underrated" though. If I recall, P-fork gave it a strong review.
That is a terrific song. And I love the pretty little guitar lick. I only wish the record were out now, although it'll sure brighten up the fall. I thought Cass was gone for good after his website went down, but I'm glad to see him back. He puts on a great live show, in case anone out west is thinking of checking him out.

I loved "A" but wasn't as enthused with PREfection. Looking forward to something more along the lines of "A" and his EP "Not the Way". Both of those are incredible if you haven't heard them.
