Cat Power and the Dirty Delta Blues:
Live at the Granada

Cat Power and her Dirty Delta Blues band blessed Dallas with a nearly 3-hour long marathon set last night at the Granada Theater. With her rad French bulldog Mona watching from backstage, Chan was typically affable and sweet, and seemed to be having a lovely time interacting with the sold-out crowd, and the band was spot on accompanying the chanteuse as they ran through two sets worth of indelibly soulful covers. As it happens, the show was being recorded, so we were treated to a full second set which featured multiple takes on a number of the first set's songs, including their incredible cover of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' "Tracks of My Tears," and Mona's favorite, "Silver Stallions." The band might have thought otherwise, but this was a truly remarkable, unforgettable show. In a rare instance, an adoring (and lucky) audience was generously allowed to witness a special band work through new material/covers as if we were right there in their living room.

she looks amazing. and tan. i wish i could have seen this show, that's a sick setlist.
makes me feel better that i didnt really get crap for shots either at the show. i mean that was just ridiculous.
i missed her at pfork, but every pic i have seen of her shows her just holding a mic - does she not play anything in concert anymore? what's the deal?
I can't believe I had to give my ticket away to this. I don't think I'm going to handle this well...

Chan is hot and all, I mean truly a pretty woman. But remember that Avedon photo of her? I really hope she's sober and taking care of her bush.

your website is without a doubt the nutsac of my elephantized penile region for getting such great polaroidal coverage but this show was awesome
reggie, you're sort of crass. not very tasteful there.
great work here, fellas. you're the tops!
had no idea that Mr. Judah Bauer of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was playing with them.
Once, at a Jon Spencer show, I told Judah Bower that I had taped it on a portable cassette player. He sneered and said "Jon doesn't like that". I tried to give him the tape, but he was to busy hitting on some fat chicks with herpes to realize he had just lost a fan and any remaining respect.
Another time, JB showed up, alone, on the front step of my friend's house, trying to find 'the party'. He was stoned and reeked of urine. My friend wasn't having a party and asked him politely to leave.
The Delta 72 showed up at a party I was at in Denton, back when they touring that '000' record. They were popping their mom's pills and giggling like schoolgirls. Then they monopolized the living room to demonstrate their command of esoteric and exotic dance moves. Everyone at the party seemed annoyed and were glad when they left.
well, regardless of what you're fabricating, anon, that show was something else and I'll probably never forget it
i'm going to take both of those anonymous comments with a grain of salt, and assume that both of those stories are completely false. mostly because you're idiot anonymous commenters, and very likely the same fool.
Yes, I'm the same fool and anonymous. Believe what you like, but all absolutely true. Sorry your idols are douche bags.
I actually found the show a bit disappointing. I'm surprised you didn't even mention Micah P. Hinson, as he has built up quite a bit of indie cred over the past few years (and impressed me that night with his solo performance).
I wrote my own quasi-review here...As I said at the end of that post, maybe we should have stuck around.
Ah the ranting of an anoymous idiot . they hate it when they have to stay working the butter machine at the theatre , and others are doing well for themselves . There is a reason they stay anonymous . Anyhow dallas thanks for the show Cat Power had a good visit and we may use some of the set recording for the record ! xx Rx
Awfully defensive, Captain Rx!
jesus christ, people, be nice for a change. goddam.
yes actually we played metal heart and naked in the 2nd set . so looks like you missed out . Rx
Lately we are playing both .
gregg foreman is a jerk
"they hate it when they have to stay working the butter machine at the theatre , and others are doing well for themselves"
wow did he just put down...
holy shite i knew he was a jerk b4 that statement
seriosuly Gregg, i know you are personally a dishonest jerk
Chan has drastically lowered her integrity and potential just having you around
