After a reportedly less-than-amicable split with Sub Pop, Rogue Wave is set to release their new album, Asleep at Heaven's Gate, on Brushfire Records on September 18. The first track to surface from the LP -- the shimmering late-summer anthem "Lake Michigan" -- addresses the "environmental destruction and the greed that perpetuates our inability to make any kind of progress..."

What happened between Rogue Wave and Sub Pop?
Boooorrrrrinnng!!!! Thank God they're not on Sub Pop anymore.
I'm not really a lyrics guy (takes me many, many listens to pick up on what an artist is saying). But I like the tune. Kinda "more of the same", but since I like their old stuff, cool.

Not everyone has a Google account to log into this blog. Just because someone thinks a song is boring doesn't mean they're haters. I've liked a couple of older Rogue Wave songs but I think this song is a boring safe indie tune. Maybe it will end up on the new season of Heroes.
I'd much rather dance in a mosh pit and hang out with the folks at Sub Pop than retire into boringville and hang ten with Rogue Wave and Jack Johnson.

"Lake Michigan" has brought back the 60s to this old schooler. No, not the far-out, flower power 60s, but the 60s of Burt Bacharach, Herb Alpert, and Sergio Mendes, whose songs and arrangements were as breezy as this wonderful, very 21st century piece by Rogue Wave.
i really like these guys. they may not be undergroundhipsterkewlumlaut but they write enjoyable songs that are accessible. i like they're acoustic stuff on kyte. myspace.com/roguewave in the "sounds like" section.
