Well I stayed up late for this, we might as well talk about it, yeah? Upon first (and second and third) listen, In Rainbows exceeds all the expectations we didn't really have any time to develop. Some initial, hasty thoughts: not really feeling "Bodysnatchers," but "Nude" through the almost dubby "House of Cards" is essentially a perfect 6-song sequence, highlighted by the "Julia"-esque "Faust Arp," and the hypnotic, breakbeat-laden dreamscape, "All I Need." My first impression is that this is the band's most enchanting, instantly enjoyable work since OK Computer or Kid A. But that might have to do with the fact that it's 2 AM. That's all I'll say for now, back to listening to "All I Need" and "Reckoner" for the 5th time. Oh, and the Black Lips killed on Conan too. Good night all around.

however, the sound quality is definitely an issue...

i'm hoping they'll clean things up just a bit for the "real" release.

I don't even think it should be 320, I think it would sound better VBR V0.
VBR 40 doesn't sound good if it's not filter through a two-track. I'd rather have JI 9.04x5R, but the conversion ratio's too expensive for consumer releases.

Man, Bodysnatchers destroys. The whole album is enchanting. I was just wondering how many people stayed up all night for this.
it's actually been rather theraputic this whole adventure:
it feels like every active music listener on the planet with a computer and internet is connecting with one another on my birthday over this record.
i'm sure that's merely a side-effect, but it's one i'll never forget.
I think the album keeps getting better, song after song. the last 4 ones are the best

The record is amazing. This makes me very proud to be a radiohead fan today. It was hilarious to hear NPR talking about the record this morning... on a side note, does anyone have footage of the 'Lips on Conan last night?

I'm really liking "All I Need" and "Nude", but my instant/current favorites are definitely "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" and "Videotape".
Also, "Bodysnatchers" is growing on me, too, surprisingly.
I agree w/ most of the fave's here ... except Videotape. Something seems missing to me. I guess I got used to the live version!

the two things that are keeping it from being a 10/10 in my opinion is 1. thom's overly echo-ed vocals on house of cards and 2. lackluster version of videotape compared to the live version. i'd give it a 9.5. because my opinion matters SO much ;)
Did anyone else get screwed by this deal? I chose a slightly-less-than-average price, went through the steps, never received confirmation, charges have been posted & all my emails to support have gone unanswered.

I too am loving the new cuts. I was curious though to see if anyone else out there though the intro to "House of Cards" sounded a lot like Grizzly Bear's "Knife".
Just my initial feeling about that song.
I'm pretty disappointed. Other than all the strings, there's not much about this album that's new to Radiohead. It feels recycled.. maybe it's because none of it is new material, I don't know.
It doesn't offer anything to keep me from going to one of their previous albums essentially.

this has new surprises all over. besides every album since OKC has been previewed extensively at live shows, so to say this isn't good because "none of it is new material" is a pretty ignorant statement. listen again, champ.
