Black Lips: live in dallas

the black lips

What can we say, the Black Lips put on one of the best shows of the year last night at the Loft. The dudes were better than advertised: raw, loud, and raucous as hell, their flower punk laced with unstoppable melodies, and an eerily authentic knack for creating/updating a sound from another era. Highlights included new jams "Katrina," "Cold Hands," and "Bad Kids," as well as everything they played from Los Valientes Del Mondo Nuevo. Love that record so much. Oh, and that was one of the rowdier crowds I've seen in Dallas in years, so good job Dallas. Polaroids by David (you can check some live shots by Garrison + Jennings here, or check out noisyneighbor's photos here).

Other than some hassles by security, perfect show experience.

omg, that show was insane. i feared for my life when the floorboards started to shake or whenever that one guy kept moshing. i laughed every time jared swilley (?) said "help us don't hurt us" and "guys, stop pushing each other. this isn't football practice." lol. classic. i was expecting onstage antics -- not the crazy audience. best show in dallas i've been to in a long time. thanks again for the tickets. coincidentally, we ran into my neighbor there too who also won tickets from gvsb.
