born 2 B fly
Our friends at True Panther Sounds (home to Girls) are set to release the debut from the Fly Girlz, a group of young female MCs -- ages 12 to 14 -- that attend Brownsville Middle School PS 284 in NYC. The group formed during a supplementary after-school arts program facilitated by the city. As the story goes, "the program began with 22 students...the Fly Girlz were the last 6 standing." Nathan Corbin of Excepter laced the tracks with some dirty, often sinister beats -- as one of the girls puts it, "it was all like techno up in there" -- and the girls drop earnest rhymes about boys, school, etc., occasionally mixing in some intense/grim subject matter. Like a harder, socially conscious version of L'Trimm:mp3:
