sugar mountain

Of all the outstanding exclusive releases I picked up on Record Store Day, the highlight is without question Neil Young's incredible Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 2xLP, which is available today for the first time on 200g vinyl. Released late last year on cd, the record documents a then-22-year-old Young's first post-Buffalo Springfield solo performances, at the Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A little pricey, but totally essential, as the sound quality is astoundingly great. There will apparently be only one pressing run, so this will inevitably sell out quick (they were all gone by the time I left Good Records).

Woah, I live right by the Canterbury House in Ann Arbor. I had no idea a 22yo Neil Young played there. If only Ann Arbor still rocked as much as it did in the late '60s. I mean Iggy and The Stooges were hanging out then too.
