animal collective :: live on letterman
Animal Collective and their sheet-dancer trick-or-treater improv dance troupe played Letterman last night, once again confusing old people and closed-captionists everywhere:

Wallpaper department - zing! What a card! lolz
Even though you did the work for them, I imagine P4k and Stereogum will neglect to credit you for this find.
damn letterman is old
10 bucks says Deakin is one of the background dancers.
1 buck says Deakin is ALL OF THE BACKGROUND DANCERS!
25 cents says AC will cut their losses and kick deaks out of the band, because they can make more money without him
75 cents says he's been gone all along.
so fun to picture the mainstream-letterman-watching-public watching this performance... great song... so funny and fun. thanks for the post!
well that was shit. When did they stop playing instruments?
Samplers are instruments................
It was nice of animal collective to bring their unique combination of weak, boring, and irrelevent sampler sounds to late night television. It helped me doze of for the night.
Samplers are not instruments. They're machines. You play a song on a guitar three times in a row, each time will sound slightly different. You play a song three times on a sampler and it'll sound exactly the same each time.
samplers are instruments. it's called evolution in music.
maybe those who disagree and want to stick with traditional instruments want to ge even further back to when humans were banging sticks and rocks together.
now that's indie!
Did anyone think Animal Collective seemed happier than usual? I'm not use to them smiling that much in 5 minutes.
probably because Norm McDonald was awesome!
Pay no mind to the "samplers aren't instruments" guy, he's still feeling let down ever since he discovered Kraftwerk were just a few guys with computers and not robots from the future.
Seriously guy, sometimes you can hit a sample early or late, so it can sound different each time.
besides guitars are lame.
haha. kraftwerk! i totally picked up their Computer World album on vinyl at good will for 50cents.
samplers are instruments. youve also gotta make the samples too.
