dog song

Chocolate Bobka introduced us to Vermont's Mountain Man a month or so back, but it was CB's more recent post -- specifically, the amazing 3-part harmonies on the strikingly intimate "Dog Song" -- that really floored me. Sure to appeal to fans of Joanna Newsom, Alela Diane, Marissa Nadler and the like, Mountain Man creates sounds that are at once stark, fragile, and sad, but there's a genuine warmth here that sets these songs apart and makes them perfect for what (almost) feels like the first night of Fall here in TX.

mountain man :: dog song
mountain man :: sewee sewee

The group's first release is available on Open Face Recs, and look for a 7" in early '10 on the inimitable Underwater Peoples. Download more from Mountain Man here.
