secretly canadian signs jj, announces jj nº 3 LP
An abundance of jj news lately: the group has signed with Secretly Canadian, who've just announced the release of their next LP, jj nº 3, on March 9 in the U.S. in conjunction with Sincerely Yours (just in time for SXSW and their tour with the xx). The label is also giving away a promo mp3 of the group's Weezy rework (and one of my songs of the year), "Ecstasy."

I'm sorry pedro.martinez, but did you really think there was any authenticity in Sincerely Yours, let alone sincerity? Did you really think all the drivel about situationism was anything more but ripping off the aesthetics of Factory Records?
Behind the gloss of slogans in First Class Riot (something pure, something real, blaah blaah) these people are just as shallow as pop music has, and always will be. It's not going to get any deeper with leftist leanings, philantropy for WWF or becoming deep and philosophical about it.
In the end these people are going to get greedy for some $$$, like all good citizens of this capitalist world are, there's just no going around about it. Let's just enjoy them while they produce something worth while to listen, shall we?
BTW Air France has a publishing deal with XL and Avner hasn't sold out only because he doesn't have the pull since he sing in swedish.

Pedro, you're way off the mark here. Take it from someone who has been personally involved: SY aren't getting rich off this, and aren't "rich" to begin with. Most of the money they've made from the label has gone right back into creating new music, new videos, new art. This is not a cash grab. jj deserve their music to be heard by a wider audience and hey, they deserve to make a living off of what they do.

Swedish weather sucks, Swedish music rules! :) I don't care who signs with what or who listens to what. As long as I like what's being released I'm happy.

Pedro Martinez said that Sincerely Yours (specifically JJ and TTA) were fake plastic stars that only care about chasing the $ and fame, and that he was done with Swedish music forever because he couldn't be friends with them.
