Got another one of these in the mail from the mysterious iamamiwhoami early this morning. Popular guesses at this point include The Knife, Goldfrapp (not likely based on the first single from Head First), the Golden Filter, and Christina Aguilera, but like our friends at WTD, we're leaning toward "none of the above."

fever ray? Her last album was so dark and heavy, and I feel like she is so capable of all sorts of sounds, that this could be her moving around. The videos are super dark and mysterious, but super high quality...?
"here before" seems to have a similar vibe... someone new would be spectacular, either way...

i've always thought it was christina since the first video came out, and i do even more so after seeing the person's face in this video. but christina has a major label record deal. i think they would be showing these clips on mtv instead of sending them to blogs that cover independent music. but i can't think of any one else it could be other than her.

It's really obviously not Fever Ray or the Knife. They have a project lined up right now and it's too pop for their taste. You only say it could be them because it's got a similar element has some of her videos but the music doesn't sound like them/her at all.
if this is xtina then the whole major label plan is out the window at this point. This music wouldn't be anywhere near MTV.
Also goldfrapps single rocket sounds nothing like these clips. I find it hard to believe its either of her or xtina's new album she produced.
im surprised no one has mentioned jj as a possibility with a new album coming out, a history of making freaky videos, and no one knows what they hell they look like.

I take what I say back. i dont think its Christina. Just went to her website and nothing there resembles any of the videos whatsoever.

I actually wish this was X-tina. But, considering the range of people she's working with on the upcoming album — sure she's working with Goldfrapp and Sia — but she also is working with M.I.A., Santigold and Le Tigre. Hell, Flo-Rida is slated for a track cameo. There is no way an album with that many disparate influences would be branded and promoted via these sorts of teasers.
I suspect it to be Gaga. She's got the budget for this type of teaser and reeks of her type of buzz schtick. It even looks like her in a few frames. The better question is, who's her production partner?
Why would it be Christina incorporporating elements of ambient, dubstep, and industrial? A lot of the keyboard and drum production sounds like Trent Reznor, and I'm pretty sure he's been in the studio for a minute. Maybe he's collaborating with some new ppl? He's obviously got the dough for high production values as anyone who's been to his concert's knows, AND he's got a history of using cryptic viral marketing to drive up the hype of his new albums.
This neither sounds like christina, her music is insanely vocal centric, nor looks like her. Does this really look like it would appeal to her super huge international crazy sized radio audiences!? Maybe her audiences who read gorilla vs bear, but I am pretty sure we are not representative of the money making masses that worship her.
And they do echo both trent reznor and fever ray, listen to the start of here before by fever ray then listen to when the beat comes in around :28 in the 3rd video and you will start to see the similarity in sound. Whoever this is, I would say it is pretty far beyond anything christina has demonstrated herself to be capable of. This is underground and intelligent, not blockbuster tear wrenching red lipstick wearing female vocal focused music. Whoever, reznor or andersson influenced, it does not sound like christina regardless of who she collaborates with. I mean jesus she is described as a "powerhouse vocalist" and the new album is said to include everything from "rap" to "ballads." This is neither rap nor a ballad nor does it sound like the person who created it would ever include rap or ballads on their album. We need better methods of decoding these numbers. They are messing with our heads.
If it is christina then my mind will be blown and I will gladly bow before her. But honestly, there is not much evidence.

The ghostly vocal sounding sample in the background is matteah baim from meatllic falcons (http://www.myspace.com/matteahbaim), for sure. The production is VERY European. This is CocoRosie reinventing themselves.
I can hear "Head First" being repeated at the end of the video but that's probably just my mind playing tricks on me...
Polly Scattergood? More likely, Fever Ray. Those sounds in the background of Here Before, although they're baby seals or whatnot, seem like they could be passed off as a whale shark.

It's to mainstream for The Knife! I could be Fever Ray - who had hooked up with a much more heavier beat.. Otherwise it could be royksopp's new sound from "Juior"... I Dont think it's Xtina - becuase she is famous for her Voice - and this is very audio-tuned.
