Sub Pop continues their impressive showing in early 2010 with the release of the future sleeper hit/self-titled debut from Happy Birthday, a group started by Kyle Thomas (King Tuff) when he realized "he needed a band to play his new pop songs because he was too scared to play by himself." Catchy, unabashed '70s glam-tinged pop with hooks for days, sure to appeal to fans of Smith Westerns, Girls, King Tuff (duh), and the like. Here's the record's ridiculously infectious opening jam:
