video premiere: Beach House | "Lover of Mine"

Beach House's devastating new full-length, Teen Dream, comes out next week on Sub Pop. It's been quite a while since we've felt this immediately affected/enthralled by an album -- Person Pitch comes to mind -- and the incredibly nuanced, heartachingly gorgeous Teen Dream continues to reveal itself further with each listen (the record also confirms our theory that Victoria Legrand is basically our generation's Nicks and McVie). The album comes with a companion DVD featuring a video for each song on the record, each by a different director. We're honored to be premiering a different video from the Teen Dream DVD in this space every day this week, each for one day only, thanks to Beach House + Sub Pop. "Lover of Mine," directed by Sean Honey, is up first:

Monday: "Lover of Mine"
Tuesday: "Walk in the Park"
Wednesday: "10 Mile Stereo"
Thursday: "Used to Be"
Friday: "Silver Soul"

Teen Dream is out January 26 on Sub Pop. Pre-order the CD/2xLP here. Check back every day this week for another video, with Friday's clip ("Silver Soul") made available as a free download.

Was sent your way by the Guardian, just wanted to say that this album is lovely indeed

Mmm. It's nice enough but I do tire so of journalistic hubris. It's hardly worth of McVie and Nicks, so let's calm down.

Incidentally, I saw Beach House suppporting Fleet Foxes last year, and it struck me that they really don't have enough songwriting chops to go the distance. Perhaps that's changed with this album, but on this evidence, it doesn't look like it.

this album is amazing from start to finish. I can definitely see the Nicks/McVie comparisons there. great video, can't wait to see the rest!

I'm not so sure the Nicks/McVie comparison is especially apt considering factors like style, prowess, body of work or influence, but Lagrange certainly does have a beautiful voice. Exceptional record.

When I try to open it at the Vimeo site it says that it is a private video.

Beach House has a lovely sound, but I have never seen a music video of theirs' that I actually liked. And what a horrible band name! Luckily they make cool music.

Heh, what's wrong with the band name?

Actually one of my favorites from the album.
