mp3: Rangers mixtape

Here's a great new mixtape from former TX resident Joe Knight -- aka Rangers -- whose stellar new LP, Suburban Tours, was influenced by Knight's youth spent in a faceless Dallas suburb, and has been described as sounding like "a lost Steely Dan session recorded onto a mangled microcassette tape." We've had the record on repeat around here as of late, so it's nice to get this glimpse into some of the less-obvious sonic influences that shaped his hazy, inherently nostalgic "elevator psyche" sound. Download the mixtape below for full tracklist + cover art, and catch Rangers at one of his SXSW appearances:

Suburban Tours is available now on Olde English Spelling Bee.
