beach boy dream

Thanks to Friendship Bracelet for the well-timed heads up on Ecuador/Minneapolis' Karen Freire, and her band Buffalo Moon. The group's Wetsuit cassette is out now on Moon Glyph, and while the tape definitely delivers on the promise of sunny, Astrud Gilberto/Stan Getz-inspired "bossanova/light psych" (see "Poolside Dreaming" + "Jamba Samba"), album closer "Beach Boy" is a classic, lovelorn '60s pop gem, making this a pretty solid week for those.

buffalo moon :: beach boy
buffalo moon :: poolside dreaming

Buffalo Moon's Wetsuit seems pretty ambitious, as far as cassette-only releases that are limited to only 100 copies go. I would imagine they're almost gone, so grab one here while you can.

EDIT: you can also get Wetsuit on iTunes or on CD from the band.

yeah obviously there's a heavy stereolab influence on some of their tracks for sure, but not "Beach Boy." at all, really
