Sound quality is just awful. Sample rate of 24.000kHz?!? Totally unlistenable.
Tom is waiting to do something really noice with this e.p. So he purposefully is sending people to the video and not the mp3. PLUS, the video is awesome and almost as good as the song. And the rest of the e.p is worth the wait.<3 <3 <3 <3
It's intentionally lo-fi, Steve. And it's a gorgeous song.
You are on a roll these days, Chris. Thanx for posting all this new great music.
I really, really, really doubt the band purposefully wanted the peaks in the treble to clip like that. If so, they would have just distorted the song itself, not recorded it clean and then garbled up the song in the encoding. When you download a Jesus and Mary Chain or My Bloody Valentine song off iTunes or wherever, they still encode the song at 48,000khz or some decent sample rate... if they sub-sampled it to 24,000, it wouldn't be the lovely noise from the guitar amps, but rather the crushed clipping sound from bad mp3 encoding -- one sounds great, the other like fingers against chalkboard. I'd really like to hear a 48,000khz encoding to compare it against, 'cause it's such a great song, but turning it up too loud really hurt my ears :(
how do you download?
