new Panda Bear | untitled (live at primavera sound)
New heavy dub droner from Panda Bear, performed live at this year's Primavera Sound fest. Possibly the most sinister-sounding Panda Bear jam to date, thanks to a well-utilized King Tubby loop that serves as the track's foundation.

oh shit.
That's one of the great thing about festivals - hearing new material early on!
this shit sucks.
"A Rougher Version" is the illest
i mean, it's heavy for a bit there in the start, then it just turns into "surfer's hymn" (what it was called after the Germany live rips at least), which is one of the sunnier/more joy-inducing P'Bear tracks.
can't wait for this album. any idea if this song is on the Tomboy single?
it was the most boring gig i've been in my entire live!! a fraud!
yeah i was referring to the first song, which lasts for about the first 6 min. of the vid
I really think Panda Bear is playing his guitar through MIDI into the M3 synth then using his sampler for the little loops. I can see how these songs on record could really shine. I do not think we will be disappointed.
forgot how killer "a rougher version" is. this was a great reminder.
also, it must be summer here -- i've listened to person pitch the past two mornings.
the first song sounds like pantha du prince with what sounds like a constant church bell throughout. also very minimalist.
@Judson, http://korg.com/Artist.aspx?artist=636 yes that's exactly what he's doing
As for Tomboy, i think it'll be about viewing the world through his daughters eyes as she grows older and he sees more of his personality unfold within her. Daily Routine and I Think I Can sounding stuff
I think his new stuff is going to be of far less widespread appeal than Person Pitch, based on the gig I was at a couple of months back (not saying that it isn't going to be good, just that I suspect it mightn't be a critical chart topping crossover hit like that last album was). Less hooks and more droney and repetetive, from what I can tell. A lot of people were getting very restless and uncomfortable after half an hour and there were plenty of disappointed remarks afterwards.
Definitely looking forward to new Panda Bear. I agree that he seems to be going in a slightly different direction, but whatever, it's his creation.
Sidenote, made the trek from NY to Primavera. Didn't catch Panda Bear, but saw a ton of other stuff. That festival is/was so solid.
I was there. Too bad the video didn't work... Good gig though
