the sandwitches :: "baby mine"

Duck Duck Goose! is the stellar new one-sided 12" from San Francisco's the Sandwitches, out July 13 on Empty Cellar + Secret Seven. The limited six-song EP features some of the group's starkest, most haunting material to date (see "Song of Songs" and "Stardust"), and includes their covers of Tim Cohen's "Rock of Gibraltar" and the Oscar-nominated "Baby Mine," which -- as Empty Cellar points out -- is taken from one of the most heartcrushing moments in the history of film:

i'm in tears and it's not even noon -- why the hell did i re-watch that dumbo scene for the first time in at least a decade? (loving their cover of it, too.)

i can't comprehend why hardly anyone is talking about these gals (and guy?). ambient sadcake is a near-perfect debut and that grace sings sludge cassette has hardly left my walkman this year.
